Is suffering a problem or a mystery? For Buddhism the world is radically painful and therefore self-liberation from suffering constitutes the obvious aim of human existence, a problem that can be solved. For Christianity, on the other hand, the world, as the work of a good God, has been condemned to suffering and death by human sin but also definitively redeemed and reconciled with God by the revelatory-salvific work of Jesus; thus suffering appears as a mystery in which the believers are called to participate. Join the short course led by Dr Jakub Urbaniak to explore those two approaches to human predicament.
