ANY computer on our LAN can access the database at any time. Simply click on the 'databases' icon found on the desktop.
Some databases only provide research information. They are marked (NFT) below. The articles and books referred to must be ordered through interlibrary loan. Consult the librarian. Increasingly, however, electronic databases are providing access to the full text of articles referred to. Most of our databases have some full text functionality with a number like Proquest religion, Find articles, Open access Journals providing complete or almost complete full text access. These are marked (FT). You can print out these articles at normal photocopy rates. Consult the librarian. Others like ATLAS full text, African Studies give some full text functionality. These are marked (SFT)
Africa wide Nipad (SFT)
Africa-Wide:NiPAD provides information and inspiration to support The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD). This is a combination of two of NISC SA?s most well-known and popular databases, South African Studies and African Studies. All you need to know about Africa is now on one database. NISC will be adding new databases to this unique collection making it indispensable for those with an interest in Africa. NISC?s Duplicate Detection Software will prevent any duplicate citations being retrieved.

ATLAS Full Text Plus (SFT)
American Theological Library Association. ATLAS Full Text Plus is produced by the American Theological Library Association's Center for Electronic Resources in Theology and Religion. The ATLAS (American Theological Library Association Serials) project was created for religion scholars by religion scholars. It provides online versions of the entire runs of a core collection of more than fifty significant scholarly periodicals in the field of religion, most of which go back to 1949. ATLAS journals represent a wide selection of Christian traditions (including Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Evangelical, and Pentecostal), Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shinto, Taoism, Confucianism, and other religious traditions.
The Philosopher's Index (NFT)
The Philosopher's Index provides indexing and abstracts from books and journals of philosophy and related fields. It covers the areas of ethics, aesthetics, epistemology, logic, and metaphysics as well as material on the philosophy of disciplines, such as law, religion, science, history, and education. 1940 to 2003.
ProQuest Religion (FT)
Designed to meet the needs of both religious studies programs and general library collections, the database is an excellent source of religious news and commentary, details on doctrines and philosophies, and reports on religious history and related archeology. ProQuest Religion also covers formal theological studies and commentary on topics of general interest from the perspectives of specific religions.
