Dr. Nzalalemba Serge Kubanza received a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and a Master's degree in Development Planning from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He holds a BA-Honours in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo and a BA in Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. He has published extensively in the areas of solid waste management, social justice, environmental justice and sustainability. He has held various positions with non-profit organisations in South Africa and with academic institutions as a lecturer and researcher. He is a sociologist, Anthropologist, a Development Planner, Human Geographer and a systems analyst by training and he specialised in human and urban geography and environmental sustainability. He undertook a three month research training session at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis in Austria. He also undertook a three-month internship at the UN-Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland from February 2017-May 2017.
