Professor Raphael de Kadt

Professor of Politics & Co-ordinator of the Undergraduate Programme in Commerce, Philosophy and Politics

Raphael de Kadt holds the Bill Lynch Chair of Political Studies at St Augustine College of South Africa. A Research fellow at the Helen Suzman Foundation and currently a Guest Professor at the accadis Hochschule in Germany, he was formerly Head of the School of Politics at UKZN. The author, co-author or editor of over 70 publications, his scholarly interests cover modernization studies, the political economy of growth and development, comparative politics, normative political theory and international relations. He was, for twenty years, Editor-in-Chief of Theoria: A Journal of Social and Political Theory, and of which he is now Editor Emeritus. He is a member of the International Political Science Association and the American Political Science Association.
