Dr Jimmy Mulanda Juma
(Senior Lecturer in Peace Studies)

Dr Mulanda Jimmy Juma is the Coordinator of Peace Studies Programme. Previously, he worked as the Coordinator of Dag Hammarskjold Centre for Peace, Good Governance and Human Rights in Zambia and as the Regional Peace Advisor for Southern Africa region with the Mennonite Central Committee. Dr Juma holds a PhD in Politics, Human Rights and Sustainability from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Italy, and a Master of Commerce in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
 

 

Mrs Peggy O’Hagan

Education: BSc - UNISA / BEd(Hons) - UNISA / MPhil in Education and Culture with Specialisation in Educational Leadership - St Augustine College

Work experience: My work experience includes 25 years teaching Mathematics and Computer Science in Catholic high schools, 3 years as Deputy Principal of a Catholic high school, and 1 year at University of San Diego teaching Mathematics. At St Augustine College, I co-ordinated the undergraduate programme in Academic Development of Research Skills for both BCom and BA students. I currently present the Research module for the MPhil in Education students and BA(Hons) in Peace Studies students and work with these students in developing their research proposals. I also present the Leadership and Management in a Faith-based school module for the MPhil students. My research area is in negotiations in high schools and I have run several workshops with high school students and teachers on practical negotiations.
